Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is an effective path to healthy skin through its optimization of fundamental skin function, improving oxygen levels and enhancing cellular energy.
As an anti-oxidant it increases coQ10 levels, recycles vitamins c and e, and is proven to quench hydroxyl radicals, hypochlorous acid and unstable oxygen. It is considered to be a universal anti-oxidant because it is both water and fat soluble with high absorption, and bioavailability, therefore rapidly reaching the tissues.
As a nutrient it enhances cellular energy as it shuttles oxygen and electrons back and forth increasing enzymatic function and therefore further regenerating anti-oxidants.

TIP ... This is not an easy ingredient to work with when you need to avoid alcohol. In our testing we have found that the easiest way to work with this is to create a 10% solution in NatureSilk and then add this solution to your product at cool down. To get 0.5% active ALA add 5% of the ALA / NatureSilk solution. To get 1.0% active ALA add 10% of the ALA / NatureSilk solution. This will deliver the anti-oxidant power of the ALA along with the silky benefit of the NatureSilk. Be sure to add this when cool.� If you get this solution hot it will cause the ALA to fall out of solution.
