silkiness, and solvent, properties of the petro derived glycols i.e... propylene glycol, butylene glycol ... but through a
vegetable source that is also
great for the
skin. Now you can formulate petro free moisturizer without sacrificing the benefits. NatureSilk also offers improved
moisture binding activity to hydrate the skin and slow water loss while it imparts a silky, feel to your emulsions.
One of the first criteria for any good moisturizer is to boost the skins hydration and improvement of the moisture barrier to slow water loss in the skin. It's the break down of the skins natural moisture barrier that is at the heart of all unhealthy skin as well as aging skin. When you add NatureSilk to your emulsions and other moisturizers you'll be adding true moisturizing benefits to the skin. Moisturizing the skin is not as easy as just adding oils and butters. These function as emollients, not moisturizers, so they lock in moisture but they don't deliver hydration to the skin. NatureSilk is the perfect natural solution to this challenge of creating an effective moisturizer.
NatureSilk is also the perfect solution to solubilizing those extracts, and actives, that are difficult to incorporate due to their insolvency. It is not quite as powerful as its petro counterpart but it does come pretty close and is worth the sacrifice when you need a natural alternative.
Want to make a, ultra natural, fragrance mist, in seconds :: add 1% essential oils to NatureSilk, give it a good shake, then add 30%, preserved, water, or other water based ingredient, shake it up again, and you're done. Now you can add a touch of fragrance, with the convenience of a spray, that also delivers moisture and purity. You can make a more powerful fragrance, if you'd like, as NatureSilk can handle, up to, 4% essential oils but, being purely water based the fragrance will be very strong, making your natural fragrance mist very economical. At up to 4% essential oils this will still be a clear product, as long as the other ingredients are not contributing a challenge. In pure water, it will be clear, with just the color of your essential oils.
You can also calculate this at about a 20:1 ratio so, if you wanted to add 1% essential oils it would take, at least, 20% NatureSilk. The higher your level of NatureSilk the higher the clarity, and moisturizing activity. We find it easy to make a 95 / 5 solution of NatureSilk, and then add 2%, for every 0.1% of desired essential oil load, to
Aloe Extract, which is already preserved.

TIP ... if you are making a solution with higher than 1% EO or FO you may want to add them 1% at a time allowing several hours, or overnight, in between additions to allow the solubilization.
