Ylang Ylang essential oil is one of the most sought after fragrances for perfuming. Its scent is deep, and exotic, with a definite sweet, floral, smoothness that is, literally, unmatched in natural fragrance. It is easy to overpower a blend with this oil so be sure to start low and add in small increments until you are used to working with it. Ylang is distilled quite differently from other oils. It undergoes a lengthy process where they are constantly removing the oil, at different intervals, during the distillation. The result is 4 different fractions; Extra which is the first oil pulled off, and the most intense floral, and three other fractions labeled as 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with each fraction being lower in intensity, than the previous, due to the time in distillation. The other significant difference between these fractions, is their chemical composition. Only the Extra, and the 1st, contain mostly esters, which are the most appropriate for skin care. So, we knew we had to choose between those two fractions. The 1st is close enough in fragrance, with a lower price point, to the extra. We have decided to offer this fraction so that we can offer the best value, where you'll get the skin benefits of the esters, the floral fragrance impact, and the aphrodisiac acitivity, without the higher price point. Our Ylang Ylang, from Madagascar, is considered to be the best of the best, for this precious flower.
Ylang Ylang essential oil, like the other flower oils, is a great choice for mature skin. Like Geranium Ylang Ylang can also restore balance to combination skin types. In Aromatherapy Ylang Ylang is well known for its positive, calming, effect on the central nervous system where it can help to restore balance to an over stressed system and trigger the healing side of that system. A great choice for bath applications and pulse point treatments.
Ylang Ylang is a great choice for those blends that contain the lighter, citrus or, woody oils. Blends nicely with all citrus and wood oils, be careful when combining with the herbal oils as it can result in a very unpleasant fragrance. A great choice to help bring down the cost of blends with high levels of absolutes where you need to add a floral without giving your blend a 'spa' quality.
