Read ReviewsReview Natural Surfactant Enhancer (Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate)

Natural Surfactant Enhancer (Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate) is a 100% natural thickener for water based cleansing products. It is made from, 100% renewable sources, through the esterification of glycerin from vegetable oil sources and medium chain fatty acids of coconut and / or palm kernel oil.

Natural Surfactant Enhancer (Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate) is EcoCert and is of 100% natural origin. A skin safe thickener that is mild, non sensitizing, and non irritating to eyes or skin.

Natural Surfactant Enhancer (Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate) is a great substitute for Crothix and other polymers. It's easily thickened with salt (sodium chloride), depending on desired thickness, using 1.0 to 14.0% salt, allowing you to make your formula more natural. Natural Surfactant Enhancer should not be considered a thickener on it's own. What it does is make your surfactants more reactive to salt. In all cases you will need the salt to activate the thickening mechanism. The amount of salt you will need will depend entirely on your surfactants and their reactive potential to the salt.

Natural Surfactant Enhancer (Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate) offers improved foam height when compared to other thickeners, even in the presence of oil, thought it will not completely compensate for the oil, it does offer improvement over other thickeners. Keep in mind that Natural Surfactant Enhancer does offer an emollient feel to products. If you have included oils / butters in your formulation it may end up feeling more oily, due to the emollient contribution, which may allow you to reduce your oils, creating a more effective cleanser, while maintaining the emollient impact.

  • 0.5 to 4.0%
  • Incorporate Into surfactant phase using sufficient shear, depending on the state of the Natural Surfactant Enhancer
  • If your Natural Surfactant Enhancer is at all solid you will find it preferable to heat it to liquefy it before adding to your surfactants
  • Add your desired salt to your water phase and then add your surfactant phase
  • We find it easiest to make at least two tests, one with 5% salt and one with 10% salt, so that you can narrow your trials

NOTE:: When Natural Surfactant Enhancer is used with Sodium Chloride (Salt) to increase viscosity there will be some clouding, though it will still be translucent. Please keep this in mind when selecting your thickeners. This should be done at the end of formulation and after your product has completely stabilized to make initial determination of salt level. Once established you may add at cool down.
